They are washers you can place them on the screw before you put the screw through the Side Bar. After a long while of using the Lap Stand the pan head screw could sink into the Side Bars, this washer gives the screw a larger area as to not sink in so much. recently bought the space kit. It came with two round metal pieces. Don't know what they are used for or how to use them.
